GAVIN HAYES

Gavin’s work is defined by clean composition, intentional design, and a calm, collaborative approach. With a background in fine art and the development of Skogen Arts, Gavin focuses on tattoos that flow naturally with the body and hold their clarity over time.

He works closely with clients to refine ideas into balanced, thoughtful pieces—often drawing inspiration from nature, organic forms, and subtle symbolism. As a studio owner, Gavin helps shape Vellum’s environment into one that is professional, welcoming, and centered on quality and respect.

Outside the studio, he continues creating personal artwork through Skogen Arts, exploring minimalism and natural themes.

Justin Karunungan

Focused on clean linework and sketch style shading, always seeking balance between bold designs and subtle details. Fueled equally by caffeine and the drive to create art that lasts forever.

I could say I have been a tattoo artist since 2018, but my creative journey has been anything but linear, having been an artistic professional well beyond my years in this industry.

Versed in many styles, but my wheelhouse belongs in black and grey illustrative work and fine line details.

Above all, I believe in creating a welcoming experience where customer service is as personal as the art itself, thriving on crafting tattoos that feel as unique as the people who wear them.

Art that is personal, permanent, and unforgettable.

JOSH SIMPSON

With over 20 years behind the machine, known throughout the area for his clean linework, bold colorful designs, and laid-back approach, Josh embodies the art and culture of his So-Cal roots.

His work ranges from deeply meaningful custom pieces to fun, spontaneous tattoos done just for the love of the craft. Josh treats every project as a unique chance to make something personal for his clients, taking time to understand the story, style, and personality behind each idea before putting it to skin.

Beyond the chair, Josh is active in the local art and tattoo community, collaborating with other artists, mentoring up-and-comers, and supporting neighborhood events and shops. Whether it’s a full-sleeve concept or a small flash piece, his goal is simple: make tattoos that last — in quality, in meaning, and in memory
